Fossils

Fossils, a song for voice with optional drone, was commissioned by Jess Dandy to be performed on the limestone pavements of Cumbria, whose now-extinct life poet Norman Nicholson was describing in the poem.

In these recordings—above by Jess Dandy; below, by Charlotte Mundy—the drone is created by electronics, but any instrument(s) can provide it. It can be sung by any voice type.
